Our Raptor Reserve Program, Pre-Order Schedule, and Order Policies
The Raptor Reserve Program
The Raptor Reserve program is a limited premium service that enables the customer to bypass the pre-orders or late season wait. A limited number of slots will open every July 4th to purchase a guaranteed slot at the beginning of the following Spring shipping season. These orders will be fulfilled first every year once shipping begins. The slot purchased does not expire until it is used, so if the following shipping season doesn't work for the purchaser they retain their spot in the Raptor Reserve program until they are ready to use it. Customers who join the program will be contacted by email to finalize their intended order details.
Pre-Order Schedule
Every year we do 2 sets of pre-orders. The first set opens December 1st, is smaller, and geared towards customers that would like to pre-order Jackraptor chicks as a Christmas gift. The second set of pre-orders is the primary set and will open January 15th. The amount of chicks that will be available in each set will depend on the number of hens and breeding pens we are running.
Order Policies
- ALL ORDERS: Orders are shipped in the order they are received. Delays in chick and hatching egg shipments are to be expected as there will be an order queue during the shipping season. The chick order queue consists of Raptor Reserve customers first, pre-orders second, and regular season orders third.
- CHICKS: We have a minimum order size of 8+ chicks. Chick shipping begins in March. With chicks we have a 72 hour live arrival guarantee from their arrival at your local post office. We require photos of any deceased chicks for reimbursement, and in the rare occasion that an order is lost or the chicks do not survive the shipment we will reship the order as soon as we can fit it into the schedule, or do a refund if the customer prefers. We do not accept returns on chicks due to biosecurity concerns. At this time all chick orders are STRAIGHT RUN, meaning the order will include both males and females, and we cannot guarantee any specific ratio of either sex.
- EGGS: We cannot guarantee the hatch rate of eggs due to the potential for poor handling by the post office. We do try to only select eggs for shipping that are 3 days or less in age. Have a poor hatch? Reach out to us for a reship. We charge $50 for a USPS PRIORITY egg reshipment to cover our shipping costs, or in the case of USPS EXPRESS shipping we charge $80 to reship. We cannot accept returns on eggs due to biosecurity concerns.
- MERCHANDISE: We do accept returns on unused items, with purchaser paying the return shipping costs. The refund or replacement will process once the unused item(s) are received.
- DISCOUNTS: We offer multiple discounts on chick orders. For orders of 16+ chicks we offer free USPS EXPRESS shipping. For chick orders of 24+ we offer a 10% discount in addition to free USPS EXPRESS shipping. For joining our Newsletter we offer a One-Time 5% discount sitewide. As a thank you to returning customers we also offer a 5% discount. Our discounts stack, so if you are a returning customer that purchases 24+ chicks you would receive a combined discount of 15% off of your order in addition to free USPS EXPRESS shipping. With the exception of the discount for joining the Newsletter the various offered discounts will automatically apply to your order where applicable.
Shipping
Chick shipping begins in March. All chick orders are shipped USPS EXPRESS. Chick shipping includes a Heat Pack, food, hydration-gel, and a 72 hour live arrival guarantee. We generally won't ship on weeks that include a federal holiday as this can cause delays in shipments. Chick shipments of 8-15 chicks have a $80 flat rate shipping charge, while orders of 16+ chicks include free USPS EXPRESS shipping. Have an issue with your shipment? Egg orders include free USPS PRIORITY shipping unless the order is upgraded to USPS EXPRESS for an additional $30. Egg boxes include ample labeling, generally double boxing, air pillows, bubble wrap, cut foam egg holders, and inner foil wrap to better protect the eggs. Larger egg orders of 2 dozen eggs utilize a heavy duty double walled box, bubble wrap, foil layer, and cut foam egg holders.
